“I Ran From Home”-Zinoleesky Talks About His Music Career

Afrobeats star Zinoleesky has opened up on the things he had to do to pursue his music career, to the extent of even absconding from home at a young age.

In an interview with SB Live, Zinoleesky explained that his Nigerian parents are often in denial when their children choose a career in the entertainment industry, as they prefer professional courses.

“Nigerian parents are always in denial whenever you want to do stuffs like music. They want you to do a professional course or learn a trade. So, you just have to find a way. Me, I did some crazy stuffs. I ran away from home to do music,” he said.

The ‘Kilofeshe’ crooner also revealed that he started his music career as a rapper before switching to singing.

Zinoleesky became an internet sensation in 2017 after freestyle videos gained viral traction online.

There were rumours that he turned down a recording offer from Davido’s DMW. In December 2019, he signed to Naira Marley’s record label, Marlian Music.

He rose to prominence with the release of his debut album, Chrome Eccentric, featuring hit tracks like ‘Ma Pariwo’ and ‘Kilofeshe’.

Singer Zinoleesky revealed that fatherhood has changed his life. He stated that his status has transformed him into a more responsible and focused individual.

After welcoming his first child, Zendaya, in December 2023, and his second child, Zafar, in April 2024, Zinoleesky said he has made significant lifestyle changes.

Speaking to Adesope, he said fatherhood has helped him overcome negative habits and stay focused on his priorities.

He credits his children with bringing a new sense of purpose and responsibility to his life, prompting him to prioritise positivity and stability.
