NYSC Begins Payment Of 44,000 Arrears To Corp Members

The federal government is staying true to its promise, as NYSC reportedly begins crediting of 44,000 naira arrears owed to corp members

Recall that after the increment of minimum wage to 77,000, the NYSC for a few months still paid the pst wage of 33,000

Many corp members had come online to decry the biased treatment from the government as their allowance still remained the same

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially commenced the payment of arrears arising from the recently approved N77,000 monthly allowance to both current and recently discharged corps members.

This confirmation came from the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, who announced that the disbursements are being made in batches.

The move fulfills the Federal Government’s pledge to align corps members’ stipends with the new national minimum wage—a promise first made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in September 2024.

The payment applies to those who completed their service before the new allowance took effect earlier this year.

Corp Members Jubilate As They Receive 44,000 Arrears Payment From NYSC

Former corps members have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm receipt of the payment, expressing their gratitude and relief.

One user, @Kingpin_black1, posted: ”Thank you NYSC. Thank you President Tinubu. Nigeria will be great again.”

Another user @pharmacist_shezzy shared: ”44k don land. NYSC no carry last. God bless Nigeria .”

Similarly, @ifeoluwa_X wrote: ”Just got my alert. I almost deleted my NYSC account. Thank you FG.”

The payment, widely seen as a fulfillment of the government’s earlier pledge, has sparked excitement online, with many praising the move as a sign of renewed trust and accountability.
