Jarret Tenebe, the chairman of the APC in Edo state, has endorsed Monday Okpebholo’s remarks, urging Peter Obi to always get his consent before travelling to the state.

Speaking at a political gathering last Friday, Okpebholo stated that the former Labour party presidential candidate must always get his approval before travelling to the state.

Some Nigerians strongly disapproved of his remarks, interpreting them as a warning to Obi not to travel to the state.

Tenebe, however, backed the governor during a press conference that was conducted in the state over the weekend.

‘’There have been a lot of criticism all over the press about the statement the governor made

when he was receiving the remaining of PDP members in Edo central

where he said that Peter Obi has to take permission before he visits

and I think the governor was right in saying that.

The governor can say that because of the kind of hatred people have for Peter Obi in the state including me

and when you have so many of us that have hatred for people like that,

most especially when they came to Edo state and people d!ed,

it is proper for him to tell the governor before he comes so that people like us can be sent on errand out of Edo before he can come and possibly go.

I am sure that is the reason why the governor made that statement.

In that wise, the governor made that statement and he is correct and  we support him in whatever he says.

Tenebe also took a moment during the press conference to also tackle members of the ADC.

‘’I also want to send a message to people who call themselves ADC in the state

that they should be very careful because we only have PDP remaining in the state and not ADC.

If you want to identify with ADC, you have to leave Edo for us. That is the message to them”

According to them, the APC chairman is speaking for himself and family and not for them

It can also be known that during the last presidential election, Edo state heavily supported Peter Obi, delivering the state for him

The governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has strongly warned Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, not to travel to the state without first obtaining his consent.

Speaking during a defection rally for Marcus Onobun,

a current PDP member representing the Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives

and the former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Okpebholo issued the warning in Uromi.

On Friday, July 18, 2025, Marcus, the sole PDP member of the House of Representatives,

switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor’s remarks came almost two weeks after Obi visited the state and donated N15 million to the St. Philomena Hospital School of Nursing in Benin.

In a 57-second video from the rally, the governor said Obi would be held responsible for whatever happens to him in Edo State should he ignore the directive.

“The man wey say he no get shishi, I am sending a direct message to him: there is a new sheriff in town.

He cannot come to Edo without telling me because his security will never be guaranteed.

Whatever happens to him when he is in Edo State, he will take it. I am serious about it,” Okpebholo declared to the cheering crowd,” he said.

“He came the other day and donated N15 million. Somebody wey say he no get shishi —

where he get N15 million to donate to people? By the time he left, there was crisis.

Three people died in Benin. So, for that reason, tell Obi he should not come to Edo without telling me,” the Governor said.

Speaking further on Onobun’s defection, the governor declared that the APC had taken firm control of Edo State

and would eradicate all traces of opposition by the 2027 general elections.

“We are not lobbying anyone to join APC; they are coming because they see the results of our governance.

In 2027, 2.5 million votes from Edo are guaranteed for President Bola Tinubu,” he boasted.

“Last week, we finally buried the PDP in Edo State. I saw someone crying at Ring Road, talking about having 65%.

That is what we call social media winning. When I said I would become governor, I meant it.

Today, we are turning Edo into a construction site, and they can see it.”

Former Labour Party chieftain and Peter Obi’s 2023 campaign spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, has stated that the coalition may fail if they field Peter Obi again

He insists that if the African Democratic Congress (ADC) hopes to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the general election of 2027, it must field a candidate from the north.

Kenneth Okonkwo stated on Channels Television’s Politics Today that Tinubu’s reelection would be certain if the ADC tried to field a candidate from the south.

He also cautioned that unless the opposition takes a calculated and practical stance, the political maths in 2027 will favour the incumbent.

“My strategy this time around is that I am going to support a northerner in 2027,” Okonkwo said.

“If northern political figures like Atiku Abubakar or Aminu Tambuwal enjoy the confidence of the region,

then the opposition must rally around them,” he said, arguing that the candidate must have broad northern appeal.

“The person must be qualified. And if he has experience in the presidency, it is an added advantage.

When he pairs with someone from the south, that will push him through”, he explained.

Kenneth Okonkwo further described President Tinubu as “incurably bad,”

insisting that only a credible northern challenger can pose a serious threat to his return bid.

“Anybody telling you it is injustice if the north comes in, or if the south comes in…

whoever wins a primary election will take it for four years. Where is the injustice? It has happened before,” he said.

He also warned that nominating another southern candidate would amount to handing Tinubu the election on a platter.

“Anybody telling you to bring a fresh southerner to compete against Tinubu,

a southerner, is trying to zone the ticket to Tinubu. And Tinubu will win outright,” he said.

Okonkwo then dismissed the possibility of a south-easterner winning

in a direct face-off against Tinubu, even if such a candidate secures the popular vote.

“If you bring somebody from the south-east, even if he wins, they will steal it from him,” he asserted.

He further pointed to historical electoral patterns and political strategy,

noting that the south-west has never fielded a candidate against a sitting president.

“Do you know the south-west has never contested against an incumbent? Strategy.

Because in Nigeria, if you don’t have the establishment behind you, even if you win, they will steal it from you,” he said.

He reiterated his belief that Peter Obi won the 2023 election but had his mandate taken.

“Peter Obi won the election in 2023, and they stole it from us.

If you do it again, they will still steal it, because there is no incumbent to defend the victory.

“But if you bring someone from the north, nobody will pressure him to relinquish his win

because he is not from the same region as the incumbent”, he said.

Meanwhile recall that Kenneth Okonkwo formally resigned from the Labour Party in July 2024,

citing unresolved internal crises and what he described as Obi’s indecisiveness.

Peter Obi Reacts To Allegations Of Working With Late Abacha

On the widespread allegations of working for Abacha and helping him move goods illegally, Peter Obi had this to say:

“I have never worked for any government before I became governor. I was a very successful businessman. I was part of those controlling trade in Lagos.”

“When Abacha took over, they blocked the port, and goods were not coming in.

We came to Abuja, about 50 of us. We were able to elucidate the problem we were facing,” Obi explained.

“The Head of State directed the finance minister to decongest all the ports in Nigeria.

When they finished after two weeks, they said it’s not the time to probe the ports” he recalled.

The criminality we face in the north today, I will deal with it.

If I am president, the North will celebrate me. I have an idea of the problem.” he said

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has formally been accepted as the Coalition platform by former Senate President David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, and other coalition leaders to lead President Bola Tinubu’s loss in the 2027 election.

On Wednesday, the unveiling took place at the At the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja,

And also members of the ADC coalition Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola were named the ADC’s temporary National Chairman and Secretary, respectively.

At the same time, Dumebi Kachikwu, the ADC’s 2023 presidential candidate, and other members of the party’s former bloc attacked Atiku, Obi, and others,

saying they were incapable of leading and that they had taken over the party.

However In a different statement, PDP Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum insisted that the party is still unified

and issued a warning that members who undermine the PDP in the name of a coalition would face repercussions.

Furthermore, the All Progressives Congress, for its part, said that the ruling party will easily defeat the opposition leaders in the 2027 elections

and further derided them as retired politicians who have refused to resign.

On March 20, leading opposition leaders in Abuja announced a new political group

in an effort to mount a formidable challenge before the 2027 elections.

Discussions about the effectiveness and possibilities of a unified opposition were spurred by the development across the country.

The ADC was chosen as the coalition’s official political base, as reported by Punch newspaper on May 19.

Mark, the recently appointed ADC temporary national chairman, admitted in his acceptance speech

that the 2027 coalition under the ADC attempts to remove Tinubu would be difficult.

“Let it be known to all that this coalition of national political opposition groups goes beyond gaining political power.

It is a concerted effort to rebuild the crumbling pillars of Nigeria’s democracy.

“Today marks the beginning of what we believe will be a long, difficult and tedious journey.

However, it is a journey that we are prepared to undertake, united in our collective belief

that no price or sacrifice is too high in the service of our fatherland,’’ he said.

The ADC interim chairman also stated that within two years in office, the current administration has taken control of key democratic institutions

and is gradually steering the country toward a full-blown civilian dictatorship.

He stated,

“The blatant destabilisation and infiltration of all major opposition political parties is aimed at achieving only one objective,

to enhance total state capture and leave Nigerians with no alternative or options in 2027.

This coalition is to prevent our country’s descent into a one-party state.

US President Donald Trump has stated that he is developing a plan to establish a temporary visa program for undocumented immigrants who work in sectors such as hospitality and agriculture.

Trump stated recently on Fox News‘ “Sunday Morning Futures” that the objective is to grant these workers a legal status

that guarantees them to pay taxes and enables farmers to keep reliable labour rather than losing them to immigration sweeps.

he claimed that these individuals were “good” but had “possibly come in incorrectly.”

Representative of the Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has stated that the naira was weakened by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s excessive money production

under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government

At a meeting and interactive session of the Progressive Governors Forum in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday, Oshiomhole made this declaration.

He held the policy accountable for the ultimate devaluation of the Nigerian Naira relative to the US dollar.

We are coming from a country that was almost like Zimbabwe or Idi Amin’s Uganda, where he asked the Central Bank Governor to ‘go and print more money for us to share to the people’.

Meanwhile, recall that An ad hoc committee was established by the Senate in 2024 to look into the apex bank’s Ways and Means and Anchor Borrowers Program.

According to the DAILY POST, the Federal Government may borrow from the CBN under the Ways and Means clause

if it need emergency funding to cover fiscal deficits that are expected to be postponed.

Oshiomhole went on to hail current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ways of tackling the depreciating Naira

and also in trying to pay off the debts accumulated by the past government

It seems like Peace is finally at the end of the tunnel, as embattled Rivers state governor, Sim Fubara again, visited both Wike and President Tinubu in Abuja for reconciliation

This therefore means that the Emergency rule in the state may soon be lifted land Fubara reinstated

The meeting, which was held in the state House in Abuja on Thursday night, also had in attendance suspended Rivers House of assembly members

While speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Wike said peace has finally been restored as Fubara has finally agreed to work together with him and others involved.

Meanwhile recall that President Tinubu had on March 18, 2025, declared a state of emergency in the state

following the protracted political crisis between Fubara and Wike over differences in political agreement.

“Any society where lawlessness overrides the rule of law is not destined to be a haven for investors.

Recent reports showing that Nigeria’s human rights indicators have worsened

merely highlight severe shortfalls in government protection for civil liberties, personal security, and basic living standards.

“I know what I have been going through as a person in abuse of my human rights

just because I contested Presidential election which I have legitimate rights to do.

So I imagine what small business owners, regular citizens, and vulinerable communities face every day

if this level of lawlessness can happen to someone with a registered company and legitimate means, what hope does the ordinary Nigerian have?

Peter Obi Further Narrates How His Brother’s Structure Was Pulled Down Without Notice

“This morning, my youngest brother called me frantically, informing me that a group of people had invaded his company property in lkeja, Lagos, and were demolishing the building.

He had just come in from Port Harcourt and was denied entry to the property by security men who told him the building was being pulled down.

They even informed him that this demolition had started over the weekend.

As a peace-loving Nigerian, he quickly started processing to go to court immediately,

not knowing what must have resulted in this, as they moved fast to destroy his home without any restraint.

” I rushed to Lagos from Abuja after the call this morning and headed straight to the property.

On arrival I was met by security people who tried to bar me from entering the property.

I then humbly pleaded with them that the property belonged to my brother’s company, and from the records, the company had owned the property for over a decade.

They told me they had a court judgment, and I immediately requested it. 

“The Court Judgement They Had Was Against An Unknown Person” – Peter Obi

“You would not believe that the court judgment they claim was issued against an unknown person, and squatters.

I went further to ask about a demolition order or permit, and there was none.

“How do you even sue an unknown person? How does a court issue a judgment in such a farce of a case?

No one was served. No name was written. Yet they showed up with excavators and began destroying a structure that had stood for over 15 years.

“I then immediately asked the excavators for the person who had sent them,

and they said they didn’t know anyone, but they were only informed to come and demolish the house.

I immediately told them to tell whoever it is that I would like to speak with them, if they can call my number,

which I shared with the excavators, so that I can speak with whomever gave them the order to demolish the property.

“I stood there from 10am to 2pm, waiting to get a call at least and nobody called or came.

The contractor even said he didn’t know who sent him.

Then Two men later came and said they would like us to go to a police station.

I asked if they even had a demolition order but they had nothing.

“The whole situation screamed of coordinated lawlessness and impunity. Our country has become lawless.

“I just started reminiscing about how just over the weekend, I had a meeting when someone told me how he has investments in Ghana, Senegal, and the Benin Republic, but won’t touch Nigeria despite his market being here.

I asked him why. His answer was piercing: ‘Nigeria is a lawless country, Until we have laws that protect people, nobody will invest in Nigeria’. I am just shocked.

How did Nigeria get to this level of lawlessness? What kind of country are we trying to build

when the rights of citizens, their lives, their properties, and their voices are trampled upon daily?

“I remain committed to a better Nigeria where lawlessness will be a thing of the
past,

protection of life and property, respect for human rights, care for the less privileged, and basic education for all children.”

Meanwhile, there haven’t been any official comment from the Lagos state government on the demolition

It is however sad for Peter Obi and His brother who have lost a property which they both allege was destroyed illegally
