Popular Nigerian singer Mayorkun says his former record label boss, Davido, played a significant role in helping him secure his current deal with Sony Music Africa.
Mayorkun, who was signed to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2016, parted ways with the label in 2021.
His exit from DMW and subsequent signing with Sony Music West Africa had sparked speculations of a fallout between him and Davido.
However, speaking during a recent interview with 3Music TV, the “Certified Loner” crooner clarified that Davido was instrumental in the success of his new record deal.
“Aside from having my label, right now I am also with Sony Africa. Shout out to Davido for that as well, he facilitated the deal,” Mayorkun said.

While sharing his testimony at a church in London, Maje said the divorce not only left him depressed,
but also caused him to become ashamed, paranoid, lose business, and almost check out of life
“I went through a divorce that was very publicised… and that left me feeling very alone,” he said. “I was really ashamed of my situation… I went into hiding.”
“I lost the essence to even get up in the morning… what am I getting up for? Everyone already feels a certain way about me,” he confessed.

He said things got so bad that he became paranoid, believing everyone was talking about him whenever he stepped out, which only made him retreat further into isolation.
“What’s sleep? I didn’t even know what that was. I had insomnia,” Maje shared. “The noise around me even though I was in silence was insane.”
Maje further shared that his turning point came when he made a bold decision to face his reality.
After doing research on how to escape that dark place, he said the biggest solution he found was accountability.
“I took the blame on myself… it made me feel worse at first but eventually helped me take practical steps.”
Maje and Toke tied the knot in 2014, but the marriage hit the rocks just two years after amid shocking cheating scandals.
