Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has said the late former President Muhammadu Buhari “did a lot to damage his family.
Seun, a son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, claimed that the late leader caused more damage in his family than any other family in Nigeria during his tenure as Head of State.
He, however, stated that Buhari’s death isn’t justice for the crimes he allegedly committed against his family.
He regretted that his father and uncles, whom he claimed were unjustly persecuted by Buhari, died long before the former president.
Kuti said his only consolation is that the trio would gang up against Buhari in a fight in the afterlife in there’s such thing.

Speaking in a video broadcast via his Instagram page, the singer said, “There’s nobody Buhari has offended and damaged like my family. Buhari dealt with my family, but his death is not any type of justice or victory for my family.
“My only regret is that my dad Fela, and my uncles Koye and Beko died before him; all better men than him. The only solace I can take from his death is that the three of them will gang up against him in the afterlife if there’s such a thing.”
Buhari, a former military Head of State and democratically elected President, died in a London clinic on Sunday. His remains were buried in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday.
Made Kuti has explained why he is not at the forefront in fighting for better governance in Nigeria.
He explained that the activism and sacrifices of his family members, including his great-grandmother Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, grandfather Fela Kuti, his dad Femi Kuti, and his uncle Seun Kuti, have not yielded the expected results.
He stated that he is more than happy to be on the right side of history, but stressed that he won’t fight for better governance in the country at the expense of his loved ones.
The singer added that his family has done enough for Nigeria, claiming that change can only happen through collective efforts and not individual struggle.
