Sim Fubara Hails Tinubu, Says Emergency Rule Saved Rivers

Embattled Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed sincere gratitude to President Bola Tinubu

for stepping in to resolve the state’s political crisis by enacting emergency regulations.

According to Fubara, it was a timely and stabilizing effort that enabled him and his deputy to remain governor and deputy governor, respectively.

The governor made this statement while speaking at an event hosted by his supporters under the Simplified Movement banner at their secretariat in Port Harcourt on May 29

He further urged his supporters to express their gratitude to the President, pointing out that things might have gotten worse without Tinubu’s intervention.

’I want to assure you that the problem will be resolved.

By the Special grace of God we will come back to our various offices,

not just in the executive arm but in the legislative arm.

I believe that that relationship where we all work together, eating together, crack jokes together, will still come back. 

Mr President is the one that we should give every thank you to

because without him, what else would have solved the problem? we protest, we protest at the end…

but he came in at the right time and he salvaged a very worse situation…

so let me thank him here for that intervention.”

Governor Sim Fubara however, urged his supporters to understand that protests alone cannot resolve complex political disputes.

The suspended governor pleaded for forgiveness from anyone who may have felt disappointed in his handling of the crisis,

Further emphasizing that his actions were guided by a desire to protect the peace and progress of the state.

Fubara also assured his supporters of a lasting peace, saying,

“There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my oga,” the governor said, clearly speaking about the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

It is however unclear whether Sim Fubara really means this or he is a man hoping to get back his position by being loyal to his supposed enemies
